Biography

Meir is an Assistant Professor in the Buchmann Faculty of Law at Tel Aviv University. He previously held postdoctoral fellowships at the Safra Center for Ethics at Tel Aviv University and, as the inaugural postdoctoral fellow, at the Julius Stone Institute for Jurisprudence at the University of Sydney. He earned an LL.B. (cum laude) from the University of Haifa Law School, as well as an LL.M. in legal theory (as a Fulbright and Dean’s Merit Scholar) and a doctorate from New York University, where he studied under the supervision of Jeremy Waldron, David Dyzenhaus, and Liam Murphy.

Meir’s research lies at the intersection of jurisprudence, legal and political philosophy, and public law. His work has examined the concepts of coherence and consistency in theories of law and adjudication; the unity of law from a positivist perspective; the role of political power in liberal theories of authority; constraints on adjudication, particularly in constitutional law; and the integrity of Israel’s constitutional system. His articles have appeared in leading journals, including Law & Philosophy, The International Journal of Constitutional Law, and the Canadian Journal of Law and Jurisprudence.

Meir is strongly committed to teaching and student supervision, particularly for students interested in integrating doctrinal analysis with legal and political philosophy. He has taught courses and seminars on Israeli public law and the philosophy of law and teaches courses in legal theory and advanced constitutional law.
