Wendy Muchman is the Harry B. Reese Professor of Practice at Northwestern University Pritzker School of Law. Since 2000 she has primarily taught classes in Professional Responsibility, including the standard ABA required course in Legal Ethics. In addition, along with another lecturer, Ms. Muchman developed and currently teaches several innovative ethics courses, including Legal Ethics for the Global Practitioner; Legal Ethics for Business Lawyers; Legal Ethics for the Government and Public Sector Attorney; Ethics in Motion, AI, Technology, and Ethics; and The Law of Whistleblowing. Teaching Awards: In 2019- 2020, she was the recipient of the Robert Childres Award presented annually to the faculty member selected by the student body as the year’s most outstanding teacher. In 2018-2019, she received the award for Outstanding Professors of a Small Class 2018-2019, with Mary Foster.

Matthew Kugler’s primary research areas are privacy, intellectual property, and criminal procedure. His recent research has addressed deepfakes, biometric privacy, police surveillance, and survey evidence in federal cases. Prior to joining Northwestern, Matthew completed a Ph.D. in Psychology and Social Policy at Princeton University, was a postdoctoral fellow and adjunct instructor in psychology at Lehigh University and was awarded a JD with highest honors from the University of Chicago Law School. He also clerked for the Honorable Richard Posner on the Seventh Circuit. In his time at Northwestern, Professor Kugler has taught privacy, trademark, cybercrime, trade secret, and the intellectual property survey course.

Professor Barsa has written widely on food security and climate change, international environmental claims under the Alien Tort Claims Act, risk perception, the Public Trust Doctrine, the Deepwater Horizon disaster, and judicial review in an age of hyper-polarization. Professor Barsa’s opinion pieces have appeared in The Chicago Tribune and The Chicago Sun-Times, and he has been interviewed on WTTW Chicago Tonight and on international radio. He has received numerous teaching awards, including the Robert Childres Memorial Award for Teaching Excellence and the Outstanding Professor Award in the Master of Science in Law Program. He also lectures to high school students about environmental issues and was a keynote speaker for the Midwest State of the Junior State of America.

Juliet Sorensen is a Clinical Professor of Law associated with the law school’s Center for International Human Rights, where her teaching and research interests included international criminal law, corruption, and health and human rights. Professor Sorensen is the director and founder of the Northwestern Access to Health Project, an interdisciplinary partnership that analyzes access to health in resource limited settings. From 2017 -2019, Professor Sorensen served as the Associate Dean for Clinical Legal Education and Director of the Bluhm Legal Clinic. Professor Sorensen is also employed as the Executive Director of Injustice Watch, a non-partisan, not-for-profit, multimedia-journalism organization that conducts in-depth research exposing institutional failures that obstruct justice and equality.
